Secure Vision goes into Jungle

When Jungle.com looked to upgrade their security there were three considerations, employ more security staff, improve their CCTV system or both. Secure Vision was invited along with 4 other companies to come up with some ideas of how to improve the CCTV at the head office.

The site itself at Coleshill, near Birmingham consisted of a large office complex incorporating one whole floor of sales teams a sales desk with a showroom store and a vast warehouse.

Two main problems were highlighted, the first being the amount of stock going missing from the warehouse where there was a large number of staff, the second was that the existing system provided poor picture quality and was very static with no flexibility or ability to monitor the warehouse.

With these points highlighted Jungle.com were looking at an innovative solution that would see them into the future and that was befitting a computer retail company.

During the design stage of the system Jungle.com became a part of the Argos Group. With this change came the construction of another huge warehouse, which was an extension to the original, this was then added to the design for the new CCTV system.

After a number of design meetings Secure Vision was awarded the contract and the system was installed. Following the installation a period of training programs was put together for all of the security staff and then the system was handed to the client.

The system is of Colour design and comprises six high-speed pan / tilt / zoom dome cameras and eight fixed cameras. The system is operated by RemoteWatch Digital recording and video transmission system. The security lodge has been transformed into a control room from which the whole site can be monitored. The Directors of the company can connect to the system to view the cameras over their own local area network. ISDN lines have also been installed so that the Directors can connect to the site from their homes or wherever they may be on their laptop computers.

Roy Berry, Security Supervisor said, "Originally we were looking at employing more security staff to try and monitor the site however since the installation of the new CCTV system we have been able to monitor everything from our security lodge..."

It also means that with no tapes the system is easily managed and that searching for specific footage is very quick and cuts out looking through hours of tape footage. The system is also able to print or email pictures for instant use.
